UPDATE (WKOW) --- A 39-year-old man is dead after stealing a Walworth County Deputy's vehicle.

It started at 2:45 a.m. Thursday in the Town of La Grange.

Police say 39-year-old Jeremiah B. Krubert, of Elkhorn, broke into the home of his mother.

Jeremiah then hit his mother's boyfriend with a pipe, injuring his face and skull.

Police responded to the home invasion call where they found Krubert trying to leave the driveway in the boyfriend's vehicle.

Krubert exited the vehicle and confronted the Deputy with an edged weapon.

He then took off in the Deputy's vehicle where he later crashed it at an intersection in the Town of Sugar Creek.

Deputies say Krubert exited that vehicle with the squad's shotgun and refused to drop the weapon.

Deputies shot at Krubert and he was pronounced dead at the scene.

The mother's boyfriend was transported a hospital in Milwaukee.

Four deputies involved are on Administrative Leave while the incident is under investigation.
