Eau Claire (WQOW) --In his last start for the Express, pitcher Ed Brandsema allowed just one hit to the Madison Mallards batters. But in high school, he spent more time catching pitches than throwing them.
"I was a catcher all four years in high school and I honestly don't know how it happened, but in college, I tried to be a duel player but it didn't work out. So I became a pitcher my freshman year, and I've been a pitcher ever since," says Brandsema. "I've had three years of college experience on the mound and that's my only experience on the mound."
Brandsema spent last summer pitching in in the Florida Collegiate Summer League, but says he was excited when a chance to pitch in the Northwoods League presented itself.
