GRAND CHUTE (WKOW) -- In only its second trip to state in school history, the Lodi baseball team won its first ever state title with a 6-2 win over Green Bay Notre Dame in the Division 2 state final. The Blue Devils were down 2-1 to Green Bay Notre Dame, but Lodi senior Donnie Manke come up big. With two men on in the 5th, Manke knocked a 2 RBI double to left center, giving the Blue Devils a 3-2 lead. Lodi scored two more runs in the inning to secure a 5-2 advantage. Manke continued what he was doing on the mound, shutting down the Tritons, as he pitched a complete game 7 inning, 3 hitter in the program's first state title in school history.
In Division 1, Sun Prairie added another gold trophy to its large collection, winning its second straight state title and seventh in school history. The Cardinals beat Stevens Point 5-4 in a game that took 8 innings to decide a winner. In the top of the 8th Sun Prairie junior Conner Funnell knocked a two out RBI double down the line in left, scoring Brett Yoder to give the Cardinals the lead. Yoder then retired the first three Stevens Point hitters from the mound in the bottom half of the 8th to secure the victory.
