WI company sends modular home to tornado victims

APPLETON (WKOW) --  An Appleton company is donating one of its unique modular homes to an Oklahoma family who lost their house in the recent tornado.

The owner of  "MODS International" decided to haul one of his four-person units to help out in El Reno.

The unit is its own shipping container and in a matter of days, the inside is transformed into a new home, fully furnished and fitted with a kitchen, bedroom and bath.

"When they've lost everything, you know, they need to start somewhere.  So, we have several units on hand just for that purpose." 19:10 "so, we decided to take and donate one unit," said MODS International owner, Doug Larson.

"The whole concept with these is that they really can be placed anywhere 18:04 because of the type of unit it is, you know, we can put this thing in somebody's driveway and plug it into the existing structure," said company development manager, Brian Fezatte.

The company owner says the modular units are different from a mobile home in that they're durable, can withstand strong winds and can even be stacked on top of another.
