Teen in hospital after falling asleep while driving, striking tree

PRESS RELEASE FROM PIERCE COUNTY SHERIFF'S DEPT. : On Saturday June 15th at approximately 12:40 AM the Pierce County Sheriff's Deptartment was notified of a one vehicle accident with injury in Clifton Township. A 2005 Chevy Silverado truck being operated by a David P. Black, 17 YOA from River Falls, Wisconsin was traveling East bound on Cty Rd M near 1160th St. Mr. Black was the lone occupant of the vehicle. Mr. Black indicated he fell asleep and the vehicle left the roadway striking a large tree. Mr. Black was able to exit the vehicle. The vehicle started on fire and became fully engulfed in flames.

 

Mr. Black was transported from the scene by River Falls Ambulance Service to Regions Hospital in St. Paul, MN with undetermined injuries. 

 

The Pierce County Sheriff's Department was assisted at the scene by the St. Croix County Sheriff's Department, the River Falls Fire Department, and the River Falls Ambulance Service.
