Somerset (WQOW) -- Somerset senior-to-be Gaelin Elmore had plenty of options when it came to playing college football.
Five Big Ten schools, including Minnesota, Nebraska, and Wisconsin, had offered scholarships, as did Iowa State of the Big Twelve.
Big-time programs like Ohio State, Oregon, and Alabama had also showed interest in Elmore, but Sunday he made his decision official, committing to the program that was one of the first to reach out to him: the Minnesota Gophers.
"They showed me that they saw something in me early and they never let me forget it," says Elmore, "they always let me know that they saw it in me first and that held some water with me. It always made me think about them. And Coach (Jerry) Kill is a great guy and it was an easy choice. I had a lot of good options, but when it came down to it, I felt Minnesota was the best place for me."
Elmore says with his college decision made, he can focus on helping Somerset defend its WIAA Division 4 state championship.
