UPDATE: Construction worker dies after fall in Altoona

Press Release From the Altoona Police Department: On June 18, 2013 at approximately 0846 a construction worker was injured at an apartment complex being constructed near 251 N Willson.  Emergency responders found a male who had fallen from the second floor on to concrete.  The male was severely injured and transported to Mayo Hospital in Eau Claire. He subsequently died as the result of injuries suffered in the fall.

The injured male has been identified as James P. Bridges, 65 years old, from Eau Claire.

Altoona Police Department, Altoona Fire/Rescue, and Eau Claire Fire Department Paramedics responded to the incident.

This incident remains under the investigation of Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA).


Altoona (WQOW) - Emergency crews were needed in Altoona early Tuesday morning after a construction worker fell from the second story of a structure being built.

It happened around 8:30a.m. on North Willson Drive.  The man, whose name has not been released, was taken to Mayo Clinic Health System in Eau Claire with serious injuries.
