Eau Claire (WQOW) -- Express catcher Matt Menard is the latest in a line of players from Baylor University who've spent their summers playing in the Northwoods League for Eau Claire.
Menard grew up in Bridge City, Texas, 674 miles away from the nearest Menard's, which is located in Wichita, Kansas, so you can forgive him for not knowing about the Eau Claire-based home improvement chain before coming up here for the summer.
However, Matt Menard is a NASCAR fan, so he knows all about Eau Claire native and Sprint Cup racer Paul Menard.
"I'm not used to seeing Menard, but when I come up here, Menards is like a big Home Depot, and that's pretty neat," says Matt Menard, "so I'm going to take a picture of that and tweet it or something."
Matt Menard says he's enjoying life in Eau Claire, Wisconsin.
"The first thing I did when I came up here was have a cheese curd, so that was pretty interesting," says Menard, "there's a lot of guys from Baylor that have come up here and really enjoyed it, have really enjoyed the community of Eau Claire and enjoyed the Northwoods League. Really, this is one of the premiere leagues in the nation, so to be here is really a blessing. "
