Rusk County man now competent to proceed in murder trial

Rusk County (WQOW) - A judge finds a Rusk County man competent to stand trial after treatment.

Donald Lazar is accused of shooting and killing his wife in their rural Hawkins home back in December. Lazar was found incompetent to stand trial in March, after an evaluation by a psychiatrist. He was ordered into the Mendota Mental Health Hospital. Monday, online court records show after a reevaluation, a Rusk County judge found Lazar now competent to stand trial.

Lazar will be in court in August to discuss a change of plea.
