Arbitrator says county must rehire deputy

Posted:

La Crosse County (WQOW) - An arbitrator says a sheriff's deputy must be rehired and be given back pay.

Three years ago, La Crosse County Deputy Trisha Stratman was on her way to stop a bar fight in Holmen when her squad car collided with another car, driven by a teenager who was killed in the crash.  She was charged with a felony and was also fired.  A jury acquitted her and now an arbitrator says her punishment should have been limited to 30 days.  The arbitrator says she must also be given back pay dating back to October of 2011.
