Skin condition in cats closes local shelter

Posted:

EAU CLAIRE (WQOW) - A local animal shelter is closed for a couple of weeks because of a health problem among cats waiting to be adopted.

The Eau Claire County Humane Association shelter closed Tuesday, and won't reopen until July 9th.

The shelter says around one-fourth of its 100 cats have developed a skin condition that's causing them to lose hair. The director believes it's a fungal or bacterial infection, but test results won't be back for a couple more weeks.

In the meantime they are disinfecting the facility. You can still adopt dogs by looking at them online and setting up an appointment. The facility is still accepting pets, also by appointment only.
