WI DOJ asks for delay in union lawsuit

MADISON (WKOW) -- The state wants a judge to delay ruling on a lawsuit challenging the constitutionality of a law that strips most public workers of collective bargaining rights until a similar lawsuit being considered at the state Supreme Court is decided.

The Department of Justice filed a motion requesting a stay with Dane County Judge John Markson Wednesday. The state argues there's no point in moving forward with the lawsuit filed by a law enforcement union while the justices look over a challenge to the same law by two other unions.

The DOJ says the differences in the cases are minor.
