Governor Walker flooded with veto requests

Posted:

MADISON, Wis. (AP) -- Gov. Scott Walker has received about 200 requests to either veto or protect portions of the state budget awaiting his signature.

Those include pleas to save the designation of the kringle as Wisconsin's state pastry, delete a provision allowing bounty hunters in the state, and stop a prohibition on junk food bans.

Walker's spokesman Tom Evenson said Thursday the roughly 200 requests have come primarily from voters, individual business owners, local governments, lawmakers and advocacy groups.

The Associated Press on Tuesday filed an open records request for all veto letters received by Walker, but as of Thursday that had not been fulfilled.

Walker has been largely silent on what he intends to veto from the budget. He will be releasing vetoes and signing the budget on Sunday in Pleasant Prairie.
