7-day David Brown Ride for the American Heart Association

Some Madison cyclists are gearing up for a 7 day ride in honor of their friend, and to raise money for the American Heart Association.

Andy Boryczka and Karen Nissen-Boryczka stopped by Wake Up Wisconsin to talk about the David Brown Ride and team 242.

It's named for a dear friend of theirs, David Brown, who died of an undetected congenital heart defect when he was just 24 years old. The race is in its 11th year and will be taking place along the Mississippi River Trail from Savanna, Illinois to St. Louis through Illinois, then returning along the western side through Missouri and Iowa.

Participants raise money and awareness for the AHA. Funds go directly back to the association, for research that impacts those with congenital defects like Brown. The race kicks off this weekend.
