Eau Claire (WQOW) -- Despite joining the team late, Dallas Baptist slugger Chane Lynch leads the Express in home runs this season.
He says meeting players from across the country could have been daunting, but his new teammates made the transition to the Northwood League easy.
"It was great. They accepted me right away and I feel like I had already been here for a couple of days at least. Right away they had good attitudes, positive and really reassuring," says Lynch.
Known for his power stroke, Lynch says the biggest transition from college baseball to the Northwood League is the switch to a wood bat.
"The first couple of games especially it really showed, but I'm getting a lot more comfortable with the wood bat and hopefully it just keeps rolling now."
The early part of Eau Claire's schedule has included some long road trips, but the team has taken advantage of its time on the road.
"The trips are great, you get to see the pretty countryside and then you get to know your teammates a little better off the field as well, just joking around and having a good time," adds Lynch.
Despite playing for Eau Claire's hometown team, Lynch -- especially his accent -- makes him stick out when in the community.
"I've gone to the grocery store a couple of times and just the way I respond to them, they'll ask me where I'm from and I'll tell them I'm from Texas and right away they'll say I could have guessed that."
