Swallows halt construction

GREEN BAY (WKOW) -- Birds have put a stop to the expansion of the Oneida Casino in Green Bay.

Swallows are nesting on a surveillance camera and they're backing up the whole project.

Federal law protects the migratory bird.

So for now, crews have to wait until the eggs hatch and the birds leave the nest.

That could be up to 28 days.

The surveillance camera is under a canopy, which is going to be the location of the new sports bar and grill

In the meantime, crews are going to try to work around it.

"It kind of halted the whole project. We were very excited and we're still excited that we were going to move forward, just a little delay," says gaming general manager Louise Cornelius.

The project will be delayed about a month, but the expansion should still be finished by next summer.
