MADISON, WI (WKOW) -- The Madison Blaze football team runs drills, watches game film and learns plays just like any team, but they're not just any team.
They're a member of the Independent Women's Football League (IWFL), a professional, full-contact, tackle football league.
Last weekend, the Blaze won the Midwest Division Title, and they'll head to the playoffs in a few weeks.
This is the team's inaugural season; however, professional women's football has been played in Madison for 8 years, starting with the Madison Wolves, then the Cougars.
This year, four former and current players took over ownership, making it the first time the team has had an all-women ownership.
