Mistreated horses in Kenosha County up for adoption

PLEASANT PRAIRIE (WKOW) -- Some horses from a farm in Kenosha County are up for adoption after being nursed back to health.

Kenosha News report says the horses, along with other animals, can be adopted starting Wednesday, July 3rd.

The animals were taken from a Pleasant Prairie farm.  The owners have pleaded not guilty to animal mistreatment.  Prosecutors say carcasses of 55 horses, 12 goats, and two cows were found there.  Surviving animals were on the verge of starvation, and some had scars.

The adoptions are managed through the village of Pleasant Prairie.  Along with 23 horses, there are also 20 ducks, seven sheep, a bull, and a peacock.
