Badgers Switch RB to Safety

Madison (WQOW) -- With fall camp just six weeks away, who will be lining up at safety for Wisconsin is still up in the air.

Two players vying for that spot, Reggie Mitchell and Donell Vercher, are no longer with the program, leaving a starting spot next to Dezmon Southward wide open. However, head coach Gary Andersen says a running back Jeff Lewis will be switching from the offensive backfield to the defensive backfield to improve the team's depth. Even with Wisconsin losing two players, Andersen says there is still plenty of time to find an answer.
"I think we'll be fine," says Andersen. "Everyone in the country has a depth issue here or there, where it's this or that, and nobody has the perfect team. Coaches are always paranoid like that but we'll get the right kids on the field and we're looking forward to it."

Wisconsin's fall training camp begins August 5th.
