Madison 56ers soccer team hosts club team from England

MADISON (WKOW) -- The Madison 56ers soccer team gets ready for a big game this week.

They're hosting a football club from England. It's an exciting international exhibition game against Portsmouth University Football Club of England. This is the first time ever a team comes to play in Madison from England.

The game is July 2 at 7:00 p.m. at Breese Stevens Field in Madison.

Here is what Portsmouth's coach, Bruce Suraci, has to say about the game.

"We have never been as excited about a fixture. We hold no doubt that Madison will provide us with formidable opposition and our players have been looking all over the Internet to find out more about the Madison team in excitement," said Suraci.

"We have a really keen group of players this year, many who have ambitions to gain soccer scholarships in the USA, and so we hope we will give the Madison boys a good game. Further to this, our boys are really looking forward to playing at the famous Breese Stevens playing field," said Suraci.

Coaches and players from the Madison 56ers soccer team join Wake Up Wisconsin Weekend to talk about the international match-up. Watch at 6 a.m. for more information.
