Missing wind surfer found dead at Lake Winnebago

FOND DU LAC (WKOW) -- A 71-year-old man from Sheboygan Falls was found dead in Lake Winnebago shortly after his gear washed up on shore.

The Fond du Lac County Sheriff's Office says he was reported missing on June 29th.  His windsurfing rig had washed up on shore, and officials of a windsurfing company went out on the lake to look for the man.

Boats and dive teams, along with the Coast Guard, helped with the search.  An hour and a half later, the man's body was found about 300 yards from shore.  Officials say he was not wearing a life jacket.

The man's name has not been released.
