Chancellor Schmidt begins tenure at UW-Eau Claire

Eau Claire (WQOW) - UW-Eau Claire is officially under new leadership.

Monday was Jim Schmidt's first day as chancellor.  Dr. Schmidt comes to Eau Claire from Winona State where he's been serving as the school's vice president for university advancement for the last 15 years.  He says he hopes to help prepare Eau Claire's students for what comes after college.  "Eau Claire has one of the largest nursing programs in the state of Wisconsin.  When your son or daughter, your father, mom, your spouse is in the hospital and being taken care of by one of the amazing nurses, who is the biggest beneficiary of that education?  The nurse or society," asked Dr. Schmidt.

He replaces Brian Levin-Stankevich, who left in May of 2012 to take a job in Utah.
