Wisconsin near top in ranking of beer consumption


MADISON (WKOW) -- Wisconsin ranked fifth among states in per capita beer consumption in 2012, according to numbers recently released by the Beer Institute.

That group measured per capita beer consumption of people 21 and older and found the average Wisconsin resident drank 36.2 gallons of beer in 2012.

The states that rank above Wisconsin on the list are North Dakota, South Dakota, Montana and New Hampshire.

The state whose residents drank the least amount of beer, on average, was Connecticut, at 22.1 gallons per capita.
