Eau Claire (WQOW) -- Kansas native Daniel Kihle hadn't spent much time away from his home state before coming to the Northwoods League, but he got a good scouting report on Eau Claire from some of his Wichita State teammates.
"This is my first time being really away from my family for more than like a week," Kihle says, "I'm living with Parker Zimmermann, he went to Wichita with me so it's not being thrown out on my own."
Kihle says he's enjoying his time in Eau Claire.
"It's real welcoming," Kihle says, "everybody here that I've talked to has been real nice, all the host families are great, they take us in like their own kids, so it's great.
One good thing about being away from Kansas is getting out of the oppressive heat.
"Back home, I checked today, it's like 106 degrees at home," Kihle says, "so it's nice being up here in the cooler weather."
Kihle says he's hoping to work on various aspects of his game, in hopes of earning more playing time next season at Wichita State.
"I want to be able to use my speed as much as I can," says Kihle, "right now trying to learn how to bunt where I want it every time, get the bunts down and it a lot of hard ground balls so I can beat them out with my speed."
