80-year-old EMT honored for service

Wausau (WQOW) – A Wausau-area woman has a story you don't hear about every day. It's one of dedication, and a drive to help others.

Connie Wang has been volunteering as an EMT for more than three decades.  The 80-year-old woman says after witnessing a hunting accident back in 1978, she felt it was something she had to do. Wang even sleeps at the fire station, when manning the overnight shift. She says her work won't be done any time soon.

As long as I got my health, and as long as I can keep doing this. You don't know the rewards of just people that you've helped coming and say, 'oh thank you Connie," says Connie Wang.

Connie is from the Wausau area, and our sister station there honored here with a Jefferson Award for public service. As you know it's an award that we also present, each month, in our area. If you know a volunteer you'd like to nominate, click here.
