Boy struck by lightning could be released from hospital tomorrow

MADISON (WKOW) -- A young boy struck by lightning could get out of the hospital by tomorrow.

Blake Draeger, 8, is recovering at the University of Wisconsin Hospital in Madison. He was hit by lightning June 26 in central Wisconsin as he rode his bike.

The lightning ruptured his eardrums, scratched the lenses of his eyes and covered more than a quarter of his body with second-degree burns. Blake's father says doctors don't think there will be any permanent damage to his ears or eyes.

The Wausau Daily Herald reports the boy could be released from UW Hospital as early as Thursday.
