Officers in Beloit officer-involved shooting are cleared


BELOIT (WKOW) --- Rock County District Attorney David J. O'Leary says he has reviewed the reports on the officer involved shooting in Beloit and found the officers acted appropriately.

Darrius J. Lowery Baptiste was shot and killed by police on June 11th in Beloit at a traffic stop in the middle of town.

Baptiste was wanted for questioning in a shooting when officers pulled him over.

Baptiste refused to follow police commands and started to drive in to the officer's vehicle when officers opened fire.

After Baptiste was removed from the car by paramedics, officers recovered a semi-automatic hand gun.

The report finds Baptiste was shot and killed as a direct results of his actions in threatening the lives of the officers involved and the public.
