Rollover crash kills Bloomer teenager


Bloomer (WQOW) - A bad crash near Bloomer kills a 17-year-old girl.

The State Patrol says a Shayla Story was driving on Highway 40 when her car left the road and rolled. The Bloomer teen was not wearing her seatbelt, and was ejected from the car. It happened around 10:30 Thursday morning.  She was airlifted to Mayo Clinic-Rochester. The State Patrol is still investigating the crash.


Press Release from the WI State Patrol: On 07/04/2013 at approximately 10:41 AM the Wisconsin State Patrol received notice of a one car rollover on U.S Highway 40 north of 155th Ave. in the Township of Cooks Valley, Chippewa Co., WI. The lone female driver, 17 year old Shayla Story from Bloomer, WI, was traveling southbound on STH 40 and negotiating a curve when the car she was driving drifted onto the roadway shoulder, back onto the roadway, and then rolled over. Ms. Story was not wearing her seatbelt and was ejected from the car.

She was transported by ambulance to Bloomer Memorial Medical Center. She was then flown from there by helicopter and she passed away while in flight to St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester, MN.

The crash remains under investigation by the WI State Patrol.
