Hudson park buzzing after sorting out bee problem

Posted:

HUDSON (WQOW) - Its back to business at a western Wisconsin park that was swarmed by bees earlier this week.

Just in time for July 4th festivities, Hudson police have reopened the road that leads to the beach and boat landing at Lakefront Park. That's where an estimated 50 thousand honeybees congregated earlier this week.

The city called in a beekeeper. City workers cut down the branch loaded with bees and the beekeeper caught it in a garbage can. He then carried them over to portable hives that were coated with sugar water and honey, and the bees went right in.

The hives have now been moved to a field about five miles away.
