Janesville man suffers life-threatening injuries after motorcycle accident

JANESVILLE (WKOW) -- A Janesville man suffers life-threatening injuries after a motorcycle accident.

According to the Rock County Sheriff's Office, crews were dispatched to East County Highway M near the City of Milton about 9:00 p.m. on Thursday.

When crews arrived they found a 2008 Harley Davidson motorcycle in the north ditch about 20 feet off the road. The driver, 49-year-old Bart Schmidt, suffered serious injuries to his head and face. He was laying along the edge of the roadway when crews arrived on the scene.

He was taken to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Investigators say he took a sharp turn near a curve and was ejected. Schmidt was not wearing a helmet. Alcohol was a factor in the crash.

The accident remains under investigation.
