Eau Claire Police investigating several attempted burglaries

EAU CLAIRE (WQOW) - A string of attempted burglaries has Eau Claire Police giving out a piece of advice: lock up.

At least five have been reported in the campus area housing area, two as recently as Thursday night. In all cases, the suspect entered through an unlocked door. No forced entries have been reported.

In some instances, residents came home while the suspect was still inside. Other times there were already people home at the time. Eyewitnesses have identified a black male between 5' 8" and 5' 10" wearing dark clothes. But police say there may be other cases that link back to the suspect that haven't been connected yet.

Officer Kyle Roder, from the Eau Claire Police Department says, "We have numerous cases where people return home and their house has been entered, or something has been taken from their house, where there's a high likelihood that it may be the same person, but we don't have the description to make it connect as easily as these other ones."

As always, if you see anything suspicious in your neighborhood, call police.
