FITCHBURG (WKOW) -- It was the 5th annual slow pokes against strokes run-walk Saturday.

The event was at McKee farms Park in Fitchburg. It raised money for stroke research at the UW Comprehensive Stroke program and brought stroke survivors together.

"It's good to interact with people in similar situations. And it's a neat time to come out and enjoy on a day like this," stroke survivor Joe Romanesko tells 27 News.

The event was sponsored by community group "Folks Against Strokes." They say every 40 seconds someone in America has a stroke and it's the leading cause of disability in the e U.S.
