Fireworks may have caused Black River Falls fire

Press Release from the Black River Falls Fire Department: The Jackson County Emergency Dispatch Center (EDC) paged the Black River Falls Fire Department on July 6, 2013 at 22:56 for a structure fire.  The location of the fire was N5124 County Highway X which is in the Township of Albion and County of Jackson.

Upon arrival the department found a signal story 30' x 25' wood frame structure that was full involved with fire and had collapsed.

The cause of the fire is unknown at this time but fire works is suspected to have been a possible cause.

A damage estimate is also not known at this time.  The property was vacant and not insured.

The department was on scene with 12 Firefighters for 1.5 hours and used 8,100 gallons of water to extinguish the fire.

The Taylor and Melrose Fire Departments provided mutual aid Tenders for water supply.

The owner of the property is a Betty Peterson of Melrose, Wisconsin who reported the fire after seeing the fire glow while getting ready for bed in a residence next to the fire address.
