Three taken to hospital after medical condition causes woman to crash


Press Release from the Pierce County Sheriff's Department: On Sunday, July 7th, 2013 at approximately 8:33 AM, the Pierce County Sheriff's Department was notified of a one vehicle accident with injury on US Highway 10 near County Road QQ in Oak Grove Township.

Investigation showed that a 1999 Cadillac DeVille was traveling eastbound on US Highway 10 and was being operated by 55-year-old Janet Wuorenma, from Prescott, WI. Ms. Wuorenma lost control of her vehicle due to a medical condition and struck several mailboxes and a tree. There were three passengers in her vehicle, 86-year-old Lois Ruhr, from Prescott WI, 86-year-old Eugene B. Ruhr, also from Prescott, WI, and 85-year-old Ruth Karl, also from Prescott WI. Mr. Ruhr was transported by the River Falls Ambulance Service to Regina Hospital in Hastings, MN. Mrs. Karl was transported by the Prescott Ambulance Service to Regions Hospital in St. Paul, MN.

The Pierce County Sheriff's Department was assisted at the scene by Prescott Ambulance Service, the Prescott Fire Department and the River Falls Ambulance Service.
