Middleton man suffers critical injuries after crash with deer

TOWN OF MIDDLETON (WKOW) – A man is in the hospital with critical injuries this morning after he hit a deer on his motorcycle Sunday night.

Dane County Sheriff's Office Deputies responded to US Highway 14 near Willow Road around 9:17 p.m.

Authorities identified the man as 48-year-old David W. Howes of Middleton.  Preliminary investigation shows that Howe's 1984 Harley Davidson motorcycle was traveling westbound when it hit a deer.  Howes lost control and crashed.

Officials say Howes was not wearing a helmet and was transported to UW Hospital where he was admitted with critical injuries.

Dane County Sheriff's Office Deputies say Howes had consumed intoxicating beverages prior to the crash and has been arrested for his 4th offense OWI.
