Eau Claire (WQOW) -- In fifteen games with the Express, Sam Haggerty leads the team with a .352 average and two homers.
"Me and my coach have talked about it," says Haggerty, I'm a switch hitter and we really want to continue to develop both sides and get better with that. And letting the ball get deep and hitting it the other way is what most Major League teams look for in a young hitter, so that's what I've been working on."
Haggerty says the Northwoods League is good preparation for what he hopes is a career in professional baseball.
"The game of baseball is a well known language by a lot of guys and you just jump in there and play," Haggerty says, "this has been the best taste of what minor league baseball would have been like and what I'd expect it to be like. It's definitely a grind, that's the right way to describe it. Every day you have to come out and you have to bring it and play well. Hopefully we can get better in the second half of the season."
