Walking for the fallen

ELEVA, WI (WKOW) -- A retired Marine from Montana is devoting his summer to walking for the fallen. His journey has taken him from Washington state to Wisconsin, and eventually on to Washington D.C.

Retired Marine sergeant Chuck Lewis' mission began when he heard about a young Marine who returned home from war and committed suicide.

"When that happened, I thought 'I need to try to do something to bring attention to our veterans," Lewis said. "Those who served our country. Those that have separated from service."

He set off from Washington state on March 31st and hopes to be in D.C. by September. For now, Lewis is in Wisconsin and while he walks he's raising money and awareness to help our veterans when they return home from service. He hopes to raise $50,000.

"Thank you for your service and in terms of Marine Corps lingo, I would say 'Semper Fidelis', always faithful."
