Online pet licensing now available in Madison

Posted:

MADISON (WKOW) -- Pet owners in Madison now have an easier way to license their cats and dogs.

The City of Madison is now offering online licensing. Any dog or cat more than 5-months-old belonging to a Madison resident must be licensed. They're valid for the calendar year, expiring on December 31st.

Owners looking to license online first have to create an account on the City of Madison Licenses & Permits portal at https://elam.cityofmadison.com/citizenaccess/. You can then go to the licensing web page at www.cityofmadison.com/treasurer/petLicensing.cfm, and fill out the application for your animal. Users will also need digital versions of their pet's current rabies vaccination so they can be attached to the license application.

The same licensing requirements applies to dog owners in Dane County outside of Madison. County dog licenses are sold by individual Town, City and Village Clerks.
