Woman pulled over for operating while suspended more than 20 times

MADISON (WKOW) -- A deputy with the Dane County Sheriff's Office traffic team was working the beltline Tuesday when he made a stop that even suprised him.

Around 10:30 a.m., the deputy stopped a vehicle near Highway 51 due to expired registration and the driver not wearing her seatbelt.

After a computer check of the driver's DOT records, it showed her license was suspended for non-payment of fines.  However, what really caught the deputy's attention were the 27 prior convictions for operating while suspended, all since 2009.

23-year-old Leanna Norton, of Deforest, was again cited for operating while suspended, no seatbelt and no insurance.
