UPDATE (WKOW) --- A Dane County Sheriff's official tells 27 News, the man they were looking for in connection to a hit and run accident Thursday morning has been found.

Dane County Sheriff's Office Spokesperson, Elise Schaffer, says the driver of a pick-up truck involved was found in a cornfield approximately a mile from the accident site.

Schaffer says the man, 41-year-old Matthew Smith of Sun Prairie, had injuries that are not life-threatening and was transported to a hospital.

Schaffer says the man called his wife during the noon hour, and she then alerted authorities. The Dane County Communications Center contacted Smith and used the signal from his cell phone to help deputies on the scene locate him around 12:30 Thursday afternoon.

Authorities say Smith's truck crossed the center line on Highway T just past 2 a.m. and slammed into a Cadillac Escalade. Authorities say the car's driver, 28-year old Craig Fietzer, was injured and hospitalized.

Schaffer says Smith told his wife he had no idea how he ended up in the cornfield.

Authorities say Smith later told detectives he had been working on a farm and was heading home when the collision took place.

Smith will be cited for Operating Left of Center and Failure to Report a Crash.  Authorities say possible criminal charges include Hit and Run, Causing Injury and Obstructing.

DANE COUNTY (WKOW) -- Police search for one person after a hit and run car crash early Thursday morning.

Two vehicles, a 2002 Ford F350 and a 2008 Cadillac Escalade, were involved in a head-on collision on Highway-T near Town Hall Drive in Sun Prairie. Authorities say the driver of the Ford was traveling westbound when it crossed the centerline and struck the Escalade.

According to the Dane County Sheriff's Department, the driver of the Escalade was pinned with a possible leg fracture and was taken to UW Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Police say the driver of the Ford ran away from the scene after the crash.

The Dane County Sheriff's Department reports they're looking for the male driver of the second car. They say only one person was in each of the cars at the time of the accident.

Police dispatch says alcohol may be a factor in the crash, but they're continuing to investigate exactly what happened.

Dane County Communications reports the call came in about 2:15 a.m. on Thursday.
