Prescott man arrested on suspicion of attempted 1st degree intentional homicide

Prescott (Press Release) - Prescott police have arrested an 18-year-old Prescott man on suspicion of attempted first degree intentional homicide of an unborn child and domestic-related battery says Chief of Police Mike R. Bondarenko.

"On Wednesday, July 10 at 8:10 p.m. officers were dispatched to a local motel on an emergency medical services call of a possible miscarriage of a pregnant woman," Chief Bondarenko said. "Our investigation revealed that the woman, a 27-year-old Prescott woman, had been staying at the motel with the 18-year-old man, who is allegedly the father of the unborn child. The couple, who are not married, had been involved in a domestic argument. During the argument, the man allegedly struck the woman in the stomach several times in order to cause a miscarriage and end the pregnancy."

The victim was transported to a Hastings, Minn. hospital for treatment.

The 18-year-old man was taken to the Pierce County Jail. Charges are pending with the Pierce County District Attorney's Office.
