Racine mom accused of locking autistic son in the basement

RACINE (WKOW) -- A Racine woman is charged, accused of locking her adult autistic son in the basement.

51-year-old Teri Allen had been locking her son in the basement for more than two years, only allowing him into the house to brush his teeth or wash his face.

Both Allen and her boyfriend, 43-year-ol Sarkis Asdigian, were charged Wednesday with being parties to the crime of abusing an at-risk person.

According to prosecutors, Allen acknowledged locking her son up, saying he relieves himself in a bucket.

Asdigian told police the man initially stayed locked in an upstairs bedroom, sometimes for up to a week.

The man has now been placed with his grandmother.
