Some schools allow off-duty police to be armed at events

Posted:

ASHWAUBENON (WKOW) -- Some school districts in the Green Bay area are allowing off-duty police officers to bring guns to school events.

The Green Bay Press-Gazette reports the Ashwaubenon School District and the Green Bay School District have made agreements with local police, after Wisconsin's concealed carry law went into effect in November 2011, allowing such agreements.

School officials say it's a preventative measure and provides added security.
