Grand Chute (WQOW) -- The Brewers sent pitcher Johnny Hellweg to the Class A Wisconsin Timber Rattlers to get some work.
Hellweg, who went 0-3 with an ERA of 10.97 with Milwaukee, looks good Monday afternoon against Lake County. Hellweg's fastball is clocked in the nineties; he goes six innings, allowing two runs on five hits while striking out four.
"Just going out there and trying to work on some stuff," says Hellweg, "treating some of the guys like they were big league hitters...putting big leaguers in their shoes and making sure I execute pitches like I would if they were different guys..Don't want to have my stint in the big leagues represent what it did so I want to try to get back up there and show them what I can do and what I know I can do. Up there you see that some of the stuff I do isn't going to get the big league hitters out so I tried to work on some things and throw something else in my repertoire."
The Brewers will decide after the All-Star break whether or not they will bring Hellweg back to the big leagues, or have him continue to pitch in the minors.
