Eau Claire (WQOW) -- Just one member of the Express will suit up for the South Division in next week's Northwoods League All-Star Game at Carson Park: Eau Claire native Tyler Sparger.
He's appeared in 12 games this season, with 11 strikeouts in 15 innings, and with an ERA of 1.20.
"It's really exciting," Sparger says, "it's a great honor to play in the All-Star game, especially at home. To get to play in front of the home crowd and get a lot of family and friends come out to watch the game. It's definitely a little pressure to be the only kid from the Express on the team, but I plan to represent the Express well during the all-star game and hopefully something that come to watch."
Another pitcher with local ties will also suit up for the South Division All-Stars: River Falls native J.P. Feyereisen.
With Wisconsin Rapids this season, Feyereisen has appeared in 19 games and thrown 26 2/3 innings, with 32 strikeouts and an ERA of 0.62.
