Eau Claire early childhood program receives grant

Eau Claire (WQOW) - An Eau Claire child development center will be able to expand reading options for kids thanks to a new grant.

WQOW News 18 and RCU presented a Tools for Schools award to the Genesis Child Development Center in Eau Claire.  The center is open year-round and offers early childhood programs for children from six weeks to 12 years old.  The $300 grant will be used to enhance the library learning center.  "As you know, children probably don't read as much as they should in the summer and it's really critical, it's really important... so, reading is a part of our program everyday all day," said Administrator Gayle Flaig.

Tools for Schools is a partnership between RCU and WQOW News 18.  We are taking nominations for the next $300 award.  Click here if you'd like to apply.
