MA Cop releases photo of Boston bombing suspect

MASSACHUSETTS (WKOW) – A Massachusetts state police photographer is under investigation after releasing photos of the surviving Boston Marathon bombing suspect from the night he was captured.

The picture shows Dzhokhar Tsarnaev with the red dot of a sniper's rifle laser on his forehead.

Sergeant Sean Murphy says he wanted to show "The real Boston bomber, not someone fluffed and buffed for the cover of Rolling Stone Magazine."

Rolling Stone has been criticized for glamorizing Tsarnaev in its August issue.

A spokesman for the state police says the agency did not authorize the release of the photos and will investigate Murphy's actions.
