EC woman charged in pedestrian hit-and-run

Eau Claire (WQOW) - Criminal charges are filed against a woman accused of hitting a pedestrian with her car and not stopping to help him.

Angela Barthen of Eau Claire is charged with drunk driving and hit-and-run causing great harm.

Zachary Kerska suffered serious head injuries when he was hit on Seymour Road in May. Police say a witness believes he saw Kerska walking on the road that night, wearing dark clothing and walking with traffic. Police say Barthen came to them several days later after hearing a pedestrian had been hit and said she thought she hit a deer.

Police say she told them she had four drinks shortly before the crash but they say surveillance video from the bar shows her having seven drinks.

Barthen also allegedly hit a parked car near her home that same night. Police say she also did not stop to report that crash. Barthen returns to court next month.
