Eau Claire (WQOW) -- For the second time in three years, and for the fifth time since 2000, Regis High School is searching for a new girls basketball coach.
Cody Rumpel is leaving the Ramblers program to take a teaching job in the Bloomer School District.
Rumpel was a girls basketball assistant at Regis in the 2010-2011 season, before taking over as the head coach. The Ramblers went 25-2 in 2011-2012, Rumpel's first year as head coach, winning a Western Cloverbelt Conference title, before capturing WIAA Division 4 regional and sectional championships to advance to the state tournament.
Last season, with a very young team, Regis finished 15-9 overall, including a loss in a regional final to eventual Division 4 state runner-up Colfax.
Rumpel was also an assistant baseball coach at Regis, as well as a sixth grade math and science teacher.
Friday, Regis Catholic Schools Communication Director Anna Sizer tells News 18 Sports Director Bob Bradovich that the vacant teaching and coaching jobs have been posted, but there's no replacement for Rumpel at this time.
