WHITEWATER (WKOW) - Eight incoming freshman on the Wisconsin football team are on the roster for the big school WFCA All Star game which will kick off Saturday at 5pm in Oshkosh. Alec James and Chikwe Obasih will man the defensive line for the South team, with Matt Hubley in the defensive backfield. Walkons Joe Ferguson, Connor Senger and Aidan McNamara are also on the South team. Receiver Jazz Peavy likely won't play, after injuring his hamstring earlier in the week while running sprints. Ben Hemer is the lone Badger on the North team.
The South squad practiced all week at UW-Whitewater, under the direction of Mt. Horeb/Barneveld head coach Travis Rohrer. The week has been a grind for most of the future Badgers, as they've attended classes in Madison each morning, and then driven to Whitewater to attend practice in the afternoon. While there is always a risk for injury in an All Star game, the players say UW head coach Gary Andersen is in support of their participation in this event, since it raises money for the Children's Hospital of Wisconsin.
The small school All Star game (Divisions 4-7) is at noon in Oshkosh.
